- About 3 minutes
- No technical skills needed
- For: Anyone who wants calls to ring only their own phone again
5 steps in this guide
Before you start, have these ready
- The phone that owns your business number
- A second phone for the test
Step 1: On a cell phone, dial the cancel codes
Open the phone app, type each code exactly as shown, and press the call button. These work on Telus, Koodo, Bell, Rogers, Fido, and Virgin.

If a code does not work
Codes can differ by plan. If a code doesn't work, call your provider and say: please set conditional call forwarding on busy and no answer to <your Ringhero number>.
What you should see
A short message after each code saying forwarding was erased or disabled.
Step 2: On a landline, dial *73
Pick up the handset, listen for the dial tone, and dial the code. This turns off forward all calls.
If your provider set up busy or no-answer forwarding for you, ask them for the code that turns it off, or ask them to remove it.
Forward all calls off
*73
What you should see
Two short beeps or a confirmation tone.
Step 3: On an office phone system, change the rule back
Sign in to the admin portal, open call handling for your main number, and set the unanswered and after-hours rules back to voicemail or to a person.
Step 4: Test it
Call your business number from another phone and do not answer.
What you should see
Your own voicemail picks up, not the receptionist.
Step 5: Turning it off for good?
Turn forwarding off before you cancel your plan. If you cancel first, forwarded calls will have nowhere to go.
Order matters
Forwarding off first, then cancel. That way no caller hears a dead line.
This guide was written for the beta. If a screen is named a little differently from what you see, the steps still apply in the same order.
