Add chat to a Wix site

Add the chat code through the Custom Code setting in your Wix dashboard.

  • About 8 minutes
  • Basic computer skills
  • For: Wix site owners with a published site on their own domain

Before you start, have these ready

  • Your Wix sign-in
  • A Wix plan that allows custom code, with your own domain connected
  • The chat add-on on your plan
  1. Step 1: Copy your chat code

Sign in, open Chat, and press the copy button beside the install code. It is one line, and it already contains your account ID.

    It looks like this

    <script src="https://app.ringhero.example/widget.js" data-org="YOUR_ORG_ID" async></script>

    What you should see

A message saying the code was copied.

  2. Step 2: Open your site's dashboard in Wix

Sign in to Wix and choose the site you want to add chat to.

    What you should see

The site dashboard with a menu down the left side.

  3. Step 3: Open Custom Code

In the left menu choose Settings. Scroll to the Advanced section near the bottom and choose Custom Code.

    Note

If Custom Code is greyed out, your site needs a paid plan and a connected domain. Use the chat link guide in the meantime.

  4. Step 4: Add the code

Press Add Custom Code. Paste your chat code into the large box and give it a name you will recognize, such as Chat widget.

  5. Step 5: Choose where it loads

Under pages, choose All pages. Under place, choose Body, end. Then press Apply.

    What you should see

Your chat widget listed under Body, end on the Custom Code screen.

  6. Step 6: Publish your site

If Wix shows a Publish button, press it so the change goes live.

  7. Step 7: Check it on your live site

Open your website in a new private or incognito window, so you see what a visitor sees. Try it on your phone too.

    No button?

Make sure the change is published, then refresh the page. If your site has a cookie banner or a cache plugin, clear the cache and look again.

    What you should see

A green button labelled "Chat" in the bottom right corner of your website. Click it and a chat panel opens above the button, which now says "Close".

  8. Step 8: Ask it a real question

Ask about your hours and about a price from your price list. Then ask for something you have not told it.

    What you should see

Answers that match your documents. For anything missing, it says the team will confirm and offers to take a name and number.

This guide was written for the beta. If a screen is named a little differently from what you see, the steps still apply in the same order.

Hear it answer your business

Upload your price list to the demo and talk to it in under a minute, or set up Ringhero in about 15 minutes and call your own number.
